Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, today announced that innovative technology company, VCE, plans to create up to 150 new R&D positions at its international headquarters in Cork, Ireland. The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

The two-year initiative is intended to create new employment opportunities for software engineers and developers, QA engineers and other R&D support roles. Recruitment is already underway for a number of positions. These new R&D roles will significantly expand VCE’s existing operations in Ireland, which include professional and customer services, manufacturing, sales operations and general support functions. Additional recruiting efforts are underway for the open R&D roles and other functions, and VCE expects to employ more than 250 people in Cork by 2015.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD has met senior executives from VCE on a number of occasions on recent IDA investment missions to the United States. Making the announcement, Minister Bruton said, “Cloud computing is a sector which we have targeted as part of our Action Plan for Jobs, and in recent years we have seen significant progress in this area. I know how dynamic and innovative VCE is from our meetings on recent missions to the United States, and today’s announcement that they are making significant investments and creating 150 jobs is great news for Cork and for Ireland. I wish them every success and look forward to working with them on future projects.”

The ongoing investments by VCE and support from IDA Ireland will help VCE sustain its growth in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) regions as well as provision for the skills required to drive the next wave of innovation in converged infrastructure.
