Huawei opens new Dublin R&D centre with the creation of 50 jobs
Chinese telecoms company Huawei has opened a new research and development office in Dublin’s docklands, where it plans to hire up to 50 people by next year.
Huawei said the new office will expand and enhance research into business innovation, network services, cloud and customer experience.
This would bring to 120 the number employed in R&D in Ireland by Huawei, which has other locations in Dublin, Cork and Athlone.
Huawei has been operating in the Irish market since 2004 and will invest €35 million in R&D in the Irish economy this year.
Zhou Hong, President of the European Research Institute at Huawei said that each year, the company invests at least 10% of its global revenue in R&D :
“The opening of our newest Dublin facility highlights our long term dedication to investment and opportunities in Ireland’s technology sector. The facility will tap into Dublin’s growing clusters of cloud and technology businesses, nurturing future talent and providing additional new opportunities for highly-skilled professionals”, he commented.
The project is supported by the Department of Jobs through IDA Ireland (Industrial Development Agency).
